Refund policy

Overview

Every piece at JML  is handcrafted from highly figured hardwoods. Because of the nature of custom work, returns and refunds vary by product type and project stage.


Serving Boards and Non-Custom Items

Returns

Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery if the board is unused and in its original condition.
The buyer is responsible for return shipping.
Refunds are issued once the board is received and inspected.

Personalized Boards

Boards with stamped names, dates, or custom details cannot be returned unless they arrive damaged or defective.


Custom Furniture (Tables, Desks, and Special Projects)

Deposits and Cancellations

A deposit is required to begin any custom project. This covers design time and material allocation.

If the client cancels before materials are purchased:
JML  will refund 75% of the deposit. The remaining 25% covers time invested in planning, design work, and communication.

If the client cancels after materials are purchased:
The deposit becomes non-refundable, as materials are sourced specifically for the project.

If JML must cancel the project for any reason:
The client will receive a 100% refund of the deposit, regardless of materials purchased or progress made.

Returns

Custom furniture cannot be returned due to its handcrafted, made-to-order nature.

Natural Wood Variations

Highly figured hardwoods naturally include variations in grain, color, and character. These features are not considered defects and will be reviewed with the client before the build begins.

Issues or Defects

If a structural or craftsmanship defect is found, contact JML within 48 hours of delivery with photos. A repair or appropriate solution will be provided at no cost.
This does not include damage caused by misuse, improper care, or environmental conditions such as humidity or sunlight.


Damage During Shipping

If an item arrives damaged:

  1. Save all packaging.

  2. Photograph the damage immediately.

  3. Email photos and details to jmlwoodcraftllc@gmail.com within 48 hours.

A repair or replacement plan will be arranged, and a claim will be filed with the carrier.


Exchanges

Exchanges are not available for custom pieces.
Serving boards may be exchanged for another board of equal value if returned unused within 7 days.


Craftsmanship Warranty

JML warrants its work against structural and craftsmanship defects for 2 years from delivery.

This warranty covers defects related to joinery, construction, and workmanship under normal residential use.

It does not cover normal wear, finish aging, natural wood movement, environmental conditions, misuse, or improper care.

If an issue related to craftsmanship arises within this period, JML will provide a repair or appropriate solution at no cost.
