About JML

I'm a mechanical engineer by degree, but most of my workday happens behind a screen and leaves my creative side unfulfilled. Woodworking gives me balance and lets me create something meaningful with my hands.

My interest in building started with DIY home projects, which grew into built-ins, custom cabinetry, and other commissions around our Baxter Village neighborhood here in Fort Mill. Those early projects eventually led to a request for this live edge slab desk.

Experiencing the figure in this maple slab changed everything for me. It was a true moment of awe. Woodworking became more than building something useful. It became about capturing the emotion in the wood and turning it into a functional piece of art.

Outside the shop, I spend my time with my wife and kids, watching our boys play sports, working out, and walking our pit bulls. My wife and I enjoy shaping our life and our home together, one project at a time. Balancing it all is not easy, but showing up every day and doing the work is what keeps me moving forward.
