Your board is intended for use as a serving board. Obviously you can use it however you choose, just know that use as a cutting board will mar the finished surface.
To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Never soak in water and never put in the dishwasher. Also try to avoid leaving your board in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Even finished wood is likely to naturally warp under prolonged exposure to water and heat from direct sunlight.
Should you ever feel your board needs a refresh, lightly sand with 500 grit or higher sandpaper and apply a new finish of your choosing. Your board was originally finished with Odies Oil, a food safe, non-toxic, hard wax oil.
I have chosen Odies Oil as my go to finish for every project that leaves my shop, from dining tables to serving boards, for its all-natural properties as well as the fact that it brings the wood to life like no other finish I have tried. And believe me, I’ve tried a LOT of finishes. One jar will last you forever and can be used on any wooden pieces in your home that need a refresh.
To apply, buff a very small amount onto your board, just enough to change the color of the wood. Let sit for 30 minutes and then buff off with a clean rag. You’ll know you’re done when you can run your finger across your board and not leave a finger smudge. Let sit overnight before use again.
